Occasional Chair

The traditional rustic “Stabelle” chair as it is called in Switzerland, was usually present in swiss chalets and country side. It was originally designed in the 16th century for women to facilitate straight sitting and accommodate dress volume. Today in some swiss families, it is still custom for every newborn child to receive a small baby “Stabelle” chair, usually engraved with personalized icons and symbols.
